I See Seashells Wedding Cake

I enjoy making cakes that are used to celebrate special occasions whether it be birthdays, last days, baby showers and of course weddings. This cake was made to celebrate the beautiful wedding of Stephanie and Grant which was held last Saturday at Dolphin Heads in Queensland. The wet season held off for a bright and sunny day perfect for a wedding by the sea.

I am so happy with how it turned out. Bright, cute and with the topper romantic all in one! Don't you just love the topper? Chosen and supplied by the bride it's a different take on the traditional and looks great. The silver cake stand is a new addition to my little collection and I feel it adds that little something to the overall look.

The 2 tiers are made from chocolate mud cake and are covered in dark chocolate ganache and fondant coloured with Wilton's teal colour paste. I created the pearls from fondant and super pearl dust using a fantastic easy to use silicone pearl mould by First Impressions, a valuable purchase. The seashells were made from mixtures of white, peach and brown fondant pressed into plastic chocolate/candy moulds dusted with gold pearl dust. Setting up on the day was a nerve-racking experience with quite a few spectators from the busy resort pool, made worthwhile by the finished product and by pleasing the happy couple.

  2. Hi Angela, I saw your comment and had to come by and see your cake straight away. It looks beautiful and so lovely and smooth and as you say, it's so important on a wedding day to make it look perfect. I'm glad that the Faye Cahill tutorial helped-Faye is a master!
