Made my first dummy cake
last weekend. The top tier is styrofoam, not cake. Don't worry, the bottom tier
is delish banana cake. It was just for fun. Not really any different from
covering a real cake. Just buy a styrofoam dummy cake from your local
decorating store, brush with sugar syrup to make the surface damp, or water
- whatever. Then cover with rolled
fondant and decorate as usual.
Love that I could utilise
the 2 tiers in decorating without then having that much actual cake. Hey, I
love cake, but it is not my staple diet!
I have always loved the
chocolate and pink combination of colours. It seems yummy and pretty at the
same time. What do you think?
Great job! I wonder if they ever sell iced dummy cakes? Because as you say, there's just as much work decorating a dummy cake as there is a real one!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I think they're mainly for wedding cakes when the couple want the look of a BIG wedding cake for a small number of guests. Or people like me hehe
